Every Birthday I make my kids a home made birthday cake.
This year I decided to do a butterfly cake for Jillian. The colors didn't turn out exactly the way I wanted but over all I thought it was cute. The box of writing gels said that the colors were light pink, purple, green and yellow but instead they turned out to be completely different and darker colors.
I did not use a butterfly cake pan. I borrowed my friends 12" round, cut the cake in half, notched a triangle shape on the straight edge of each half, 3/4's of the way down, and than I flipped it. It was super easy.
The most important part is that Jillian loved it and said, it was "beautiful".
