Let the Christmas festivities begin!

I love this time of year, but it goes by way to fast!
Below are pictures of our Christmas festivities so far.

Our family get together at my Grandma Sackley's club house on December 17Th. We got together to celebrate and remember my Grandpa Sackley's birthday.
The kids last day of school. We walked to school in the fog. What a perfect day to wear pj's and watch Polar Express.

We have lemons!

We can't wait to make lemonade out or our lemons!

Latest creations

I feel happy when I create or try new things. I had the sudden urge lately to paint trees or branches of trees on my kids walls, so I did.
I found an image on line, drew it on a piece of paper, and than drew it on the wall with a pencil. I than proceeded to paint.
I also had the opportunity to make a little baby dress for my friend who is having a girl.
Sewing, crafting, painting etc. is like therapy for me. Bill has gotten to the point where he is not surprised if I have painted or have done something new to the house. I guess I will have to come up with something huge so I can knock his socks off.

Some flowers I made out of flannel and corduroy. My friend showed me how to make these. They are super easy and cute.

Turkey Time

Jillian and Bradley decorated turkeys for a school project. Bradley's could be whatever he wanted. He chose denim for the bottom half, army for the top, leafs for the face and a cool hat for the head.
Jillian's turkey had to be disguised so it would not be eaten for Thanksgiving. Her turkey is disguised as Junie B. Jones.
we call it Junie B. Turkey.

p.s. do you like Bradley's 2 different socks? I didn't notice them until we got to school. Oh well!

Hair

Jillian wanted to grow her hair to her bum and than she changed her mind. She decided last week she wanted to cut it to above her shoulders. I double and triple checked to see if that is what she really wanted. It was. So on the Saturday after Bill got back from hunting, we told him we had to go shopping. But instead we want on a secret mission to the hair salon and both of us chopped our hair off. Jillian loved it right away. She couldn't stop flipping it around. And I was thrilled because all of the sudden I had some style.

Trunk of Treat!

Halloween was fun this year! It actually fell on a Sunday so we celebrated it on the 2 Saturdays before October 31st. Our ward had a Fall Festival on the 23rd. I went by myself with the kiddies (Bill was out of town). Than on the 3oth we went to a family members "Trunk or Treat" at their church. The kids had a blast! On the 31st we had Bill's family over for a peaceful, Sunday, Fall meal. The cake was delicious! ( I will post the recipe soon)

While Bill was gone....

Bill, his Dad, his uncles, and his brother in law went hunting this past week for 8 days and I got bored, So I,
1. Refinished the front entrance table
2. Repainted the front mirror to a richer gold
3. Spray painted the knobs on the table from gold to Oil Rubbed Bronze
4. Finished painting my gold door levers from brass to Oil Rubbed Bronze
5. Hung up the curtain that fell off it's hook
6. Cleaned the garage floor (it was dirty)
7. Sprayed painted a gold frame... you guessed it! Oil Rubbed Bronze
I think that is it....Oh ya I took care of the kids, and kept the house decently clean.
Maybe when and if Bill ever goes out of town again, I will,
Recover my chairs, refinish the other LR tables, tile the bathrooms, frame my upstairs mirrors..........

Mom! What do you think?

This dress was originally given to me as a skirt but I think in it's former days it was a dress. So I took the sash ( at least I think it was the sash) and made it in to the straps of the new dress. It fit Jillian so well, and looked so cute! I just couldn't resist.

What do you think? Crazy?

We're Still Here!

I have not blogged in a while, and I am feeling the need to say we are still here. I feel like when school starts life should feel less busy. But No... it is the opposite. I think I, and maybe other people think to themselves, " my kids are in school so I can put more things into my schedule. Thank goodness for general conference and the divine words of our Prophet Thomas S. Monson and his counselors. Because I do feel the need to re-evaluate the priorities in my life. I loved President Uchtdorf's talk on simplifying our lives. I love it when an apostle of the Lord tells us to slow down, and that our self worth does not depend on our long lists of to dos. I am all about slowing down and re-prioritizing my time, trust me!
I also loved President Monson's talk on gratitude. This talk really touched me because I realized how often I grumble about something in my life, when instead I should be counting the many blessing in my life. Sometimes I am quick to turn the grumble into a gratitude, but sometimes I am a little slow in turning that bad attitude around. I really am grateful for my blessings and I try everyday to recognize the wonderful things around me.
I also loved how many times the word CHOOSE/CHOICE was mentioned. Life is all about choices. We are the ones who choose what we do with our time. We choose to do right or wrong. Agency, which is the power to choose God was a gift given to us. I am grateful for that gift.

Baden's Hair (and messy shirt)

I cut Baden's hair last night. It has never been this short, but I bet it feels good.
It is probably not perfectly straight because as always he was a moving target.

My Birthday! ( Better late than never)

My Birthday was on August 21st and I am now downloading the pictures from it.

First Day of School 2010-2011!

Today we had a successful first day of school. The kids got out the door on time, they loved their teachers, they made lot's of knew friends, and I am sure they will fall asleep early tonight.

Bradley is in Kindergarten and Jillian is in 2ND grade.
